RSV Virus Fact Sheet

We have been contacted by the Southern District Health Board regarding the RSV virus that is hitting the country. I have attached the information sheet and we ask that if your child/ren are feeling unwell or have any of these symptoms then please keep them at home. We will be sending children home today that we feel should be at home.
Symptoms usually include: Runny nose, cough, fever, sneezing, sore throat and headache.

Final Assembly for Term

Come and join us for our final Assembly for the term this Friday starting at 1.45pm.  Come through Office and sign in on way through.


Please remember to tell the Office if your child/ren won’t be on the bus on Friday afternoon.

Technology next term on Wednesday’s.

Technology starts up again for our Year 7 & 8 students in Term three.  This will be on Wednesday’s starting on 28th July (first Wednesday back).  Students to be at school before 8.05am.  


There is no canteen service this year so remember to pack lunch and snacks.


 

Normal hours resume start of Term three

Reminder that normal hours resume at the start of Term three (26th July). Buses will be running on normal time ( fifteen minutes earlier than with winter hours). School starts at 8.45am and finishes at 2.30pm.

Matariki Celebration buses

Matariki Celebrations tomorrow

Matariki Celebrations are tomorrow and we would love for you to join us.


You are welcome to join the classrooms where we will have Hokonui Runanga and some of our local experts here teaching the children about Matariki.  This will be from 9.45am then we will be having a lovely lunch, provided by our Home and School for those that have ordered, at 12.45pm,  following this, the children will be sharing their learning of Matariki.


You are welcome to come during the morning or just join us for lunch.

John Parsons is a well known guru on internet safety and we are lucky enough to have him come to Tokanui School on Monday 28th June.  He will be talking to the children in the morning but is holding a caregiver session at 1.00pm in our Library.  This is well worth attending to hear how to keep our children and ourselves safe while on the internet.

Moffett Cup Practise Years 3-8

Reminder that Moffett Cup practise starts this Thursday 17th June from 1.45pm – 2.45pm.  Please send children with appropriate gear for their sport (if unsure what sport they are playing ask them). Rugby boots, mouthguards for rugby; gymshoes for netball.  Gumboots are not suitable.


Moffett Cup is only for Years 3-8.


 

Cross Country tomorrow

Reminder that Cross Country is tomorrow (Friday) at Woodlands.  Wear Tokanui school shirt and take layers of warm clothes to change into and a change of footwear.

Sausage Sizzle

Teams Kikorangi and Kowhai are looking for recycled card and plastic for next Friday’s art project with Janet De Wagt.  There creations will be displayed at the Southland Museum and Art Gallery.

Sausage Sizzle – Friday 14th May

If you’d like to order a sausage sizzle for your child/ren for lunch on Friday the 14th May, please have the correct amount of money in a named envelope to the office by 9am Thursday. $2 per sausage with bread and sauce.

Clothes Swap

Team Karaka will be holding a clothes swap starting Monday 17th May and running until Friday 21th May in Kākāriki.


Parents can come and pick some clothes during the day, it will also be open on Tuesday and Friday after school. 


If you wish your child to have a look through and pick some clothes please send a reusable bag for them to put the clothes into.


If anyone has clothes that they would like to donate to the swap please send along to school by Friday 14th May.
