Assembly today is at 2pm.  If you are taking your children home after assembly it would be helpful if you could text your after school arrangements in to the office by 1pm.  Otherwise please let me know at the office on your way to assembly.

Moffett Cup Practise Years 3-8

Reminder that Moffett Cup practise starts this Thursday 17th June from 1.45pm – 2.45pm.  Please send children with appropriate gear for their sport (if unsure what sport they are playing ask them). Rugby boots, mouthguards for rugby; gymshoes for netball.  Gumboots are not suitable.

Moffett Cup is only for Years 3-8.


Cross Country tomorrow

Reminder that Cross Country is tomorrow (Friday) at Woodlands.  Wear Tokanui school shirt and take layers of warm clothes to change into and a change of footwear.

Sausage Sizzle

Thursday 10th June there will be a Sausage sizzle available at lunchtime. $2 per sausage with bread and sauce. Orders of correct money in a named envelope need to be handed into the office by Wednesday 9am. If you have any questions please contact Stacey. 0272469695

Recycled Card and Plastic

Teams Kikorangi and Kowhai are looking for recycled card and plastic for next Friday’s art project with Janet De Wagt.  There creations will be displayed at the Southland Museum and Art Gallery.

If you can help out, please send recyclables to school before Friday 28th May.

Sausage Sizzle – Friday 14th May

If you’d like to order a sausage sizzle for your child/ren for lunch on Friday the 14th May, please have the correct amount of money in a named envelope to the office by 9am Thursday. $2 per sausage with bread and sauce.

Clothes Swap

Team Karaka will be holding a clothes swap starting Monday 17th May and running until Friday 21th May in Kākāriki.

Parents can come and pick some clothes during the day, it will also be open on Tuesday and Friday after school. 

If you wish your child to have a look through and pick some clothes please send a reusable bag for them to put the clothes into.

If anyone has clothes that they would like to donate to the swap please send along to school by Friday 14th May.

Students Bottle Top Art on display at the Southland Art Gallery and Museum

Over the holidays you might get a chance to visit the Art Gallery on the corner of Kelvin and Don Streets, Invercargill and/or the Museum to see our children’s Bottle Top Art creations.

Our work is displayed in the window but they encourage that you go inside and let them know that you are from Tokanui School and that this is your art.  They really appreciate the loan of this art work.

Reminder that our ANZAC Assembly will be held this Friday, 16th April at 1.45pm.  There will be poppies available for a gold coin donation.

There are a number of stationery accounts outstanding so if these could be paid (even partially) before the 20th April please.

This coincides with the House Chant Off at 12.00pm.

This is also our Creative Community Day where caregivers are invited to come into the classrooms and participate in creative activities with the children if they wish too.  Teams Kikorangi and Kowhai (Junior classrooms) will be from from 9.00-10.00am, then Teams Whero and Karaka (Senior Classrooms) will be from 10.30am – 12.00pm.  This will be a fun day for everyone to be involved.

Following the House Chant Off there will be the House Swimming Relay at 12.15pm in the school pool.

Then to finish off a busy morning, there will be a sausage sizzle – orders to be into Office by Wednesday 9.00am (if you know Nana, Uncle etc want one please order it with your child’s)

Swimming Sports are being held on Wednesday 31st March starting at 12.45pm in the school pool. 

In the past there have been no buses running on that afternoon but if you DO require the bus then please let the school know before Monday 2.00pm so then we can let the drivers know.    Everyone is welcome to come and cheer on our fabulous swimmers.
